The brief

Surfshark wanted to be the expert stations turn to on data breaches. It also wanted to give listeners simple ways to protect themselves online.

The angle

The figures were striking. The UK ranked sixth globally for leaked data, with 8.2 million UK accounts exposed in 2025, around 16 a minute. Producers like a statistic that can be read out in one line and then unpacked by an expert in plain English.

On air

Two Surfshark experts shared the interviews: the head of its research and the manager responsible for information security.

The result

Fourteen items and 1 hour 19 minutes of airtime took the advice to a combined reach of 2.6 million. Sky News Radio carried the story nationally.
